It seems Antigua has been around as long as the game of golf has, if you’ve ever played or watched golf on TV chances are you’ve seen the Antigua logo. While Antigua is not a heavily advertised apparel company like Nike, Puma or Under Armour they have been making quality and stylish golf apparel longer then the previously mentioned companies have even been in business. With the 2015 Spring Collection Antigua brought much brighter colors into the mix than in previous years, making them not only some of the most comfortable golf polo’s we have worn but now competing in the style category with any apparel company you can find.
Antigua has two main technologies for their golf polo’s Desert Dry which consists of a poly/cotton blend which is designed to wick moisture away from the body and keeping you cool on the hottest of days; and the Desert Dry Xtra Lite technology which takes premise of the Desert Dry and adds an ultra thin material to make it one of the lightest feeling golf polo’s we have ever reviewed. The 2015 Spring collection doesn’t just consist of Polo’s, they have pull-overs, jackets, shorts and even hats containing their patented technology, and why we didn’t test any of the 2015 line besides the polo’s, we have in the past and they are outstanding.
“Antigua’s Men’s Performance 72 Collection – Spring 2015 reflects the inspiration of defined and refined lines and angles both symmetric and asymmetric,” says Sean Gregg, Antigua’s director of product development and marketing support.
During our testing we tested two polo’s the Illusion line this 100 percent polyester Desert Dry™ Xtra-Lite short sleeve polo marries the appeal of a solid with the subtlety of a stripe by blending engineered yarns that reflect or absorb light with opposing results giving the ‘illusion’ of an engineered stripe pattern, offered in 7 colors and the Image a 100% polyester Desert DryTM Xtra-Lite D2XL solid mesh texture knit short sleeve polo with printed chest detail, contrast stitching detail, Button placket, Open cuff, Antigua triangle patch at sleeve.
Both polo’s were amazingly comfortable but very different at the same time, the Illusion was a very sophisticated simple design, we reviewed the Cabernet color and this shirt could easily be worn with dress khakis to work, out for a nice dinner and to the course, a very classic design; the Image has a very modern design it and will make you stand out on the golf course all while being cool, calm and collected underneath. One other thing of note from xs to xxxl Antigua offers their entire line in a variety of sizes, to fit any size golfer.
If you are into the trendiest brands on the market, chances are you don’t own any Antigua clothing, however if you are into comfortable, high performing, great looking golf apparel Antigua is for you; from classy sophisticated looks to modern crisp lines on its apparel Antigua’s 2015 Spring collection takes a splash of bright color, unreal comfort-ability and classic styles and makes a great line up. Chances are if you have purchased a polo from your local golf club, you have an Antigua shirt in your closet and you didn’t even know it. Antigua is the biggest name on tour that everyone has seen and know one really knows about, but you should, they are priced great and insanely comfortable.
