If you have played golf for more than a year or two, you have heard the name Antigua before; Antigua has been around for more than 30 years in the apparel industry and offers moisture wicking shirts that are very stylish. AGG had the pleasure of reviewing the Desert Dry Xtra-Lite 3 Button Polo shirts, from the summer 2013 collection. The first thing you notice when you open the shirt and put it on, is how lite weight the shirt is, some other Golf “Dry-Fit” polo’s on the market do a good job of keeping your dry but they seem heavy and bulky. The Desert Dry Xtra-Lite series is very light weight and comfortable no matter the temperature outside you will feel cool on the course. The 2013 collections were developed with finer yarns to help create a more ultra lightweight knit that redefines the appearance of the traditional polo. By using the finer yarns, Antigua has achieved a super soft, super lightweight fabric that provides the same coverage as other poly knits, but allows for faster wicking, additional breath-ability and less restriction in movement. The Desert Dry Xtra-Lite takes the Desert Dry moisture wicking feature in existing polo line and combines it with ultra-light fabrics for a maximum wicking performance and optimum comfort.
In the ever changing world of golf fashion, something has to be said for being around for over 30 years; Antigua is always ahead of the game with their new technology and that doesn’t change with Desert Dry Xtra-Lite line of polo’s. I wore one of these polo’s on an extremely humid day, in which others in my group were complaining of their shirts been soaked in sweat but the light weight shirt was completely dry and you can feel even the littlest of breezes through the light weight material. We also got an expected shower that day, and while we were poured on for an entire hole, by the next hole the shirt was a dry as a bone. I was amazed how quickly the shirt dried, while still wearing it. All the technology of these shirts aside, the thing I like most about them is the style; there is something to be said for a shirt you can go straight from the office to the course and not have to change. These shirts are stylist enough for the golf course, but look very professional at the same time; that is something not all golf polo companies can pull off. For the summer 2013 line, Antigua focused on subtle pops of accent colors; which gives you a great style for the course and still allows the shirt to be worn to the most professional of meetings.
