When you share a name with one of the most iconic golf courses in the world, and from the home of golf, you better aim high and put out a quality product that exceeds it’s namesake and that’s exactly what Carnoustie Golf Apparel has done. Founded over 20 years ago, Carnoustie is a highly recognized and respected name in the golf industry. Their goal is to make high end quality golf apparel with elegant styling but not lose any of the comfortability that you find in and need in today’s golf apparel.
While we tested two polo’s, Carnoustie offers everything a golfer, or man or woman would want to look elegant on and off the course. From your standard Golf Polo, Golf shorts and Slacks to high end button downs and outerwear Carnoustie makes anything you need to go from a professional office to the course and onto the 19th hole.
We tested two polo’s, both “Solid Lisle Polo’s,” and I must say they are one of the most comfortable Polo’s I’ve ever worn to the office or to the course. In a time where it seems every company wants to throw flashy colors, and bold patterns on everything, it was refreshing to see Carnoustie send a simple all black polo for us to test. This shirt is professional enough for me to wear to work and then straight to the course with out missing a beat. The shirt is a 3 button placket with a knit collar that even after two washes has stayed crisp and clean. While many companies are using polyester and other fabrics to give you the new stretchable “under armour” feel to shirts, Carnoustie went with a 60’s two ply double mercerized cotton and didn’t miss a beat. This fabric is light weight, stretchable, form fitting but also sized correctly, and very comfortable for every aspect of the game of golf. Light weight and breathable for the hottest of days but you still feel like you have quality golf shirt on. The sizing on the shirts is spot on, which generally in high end clothing I’ve found they are normally cut smaller but with Carnoustie they are cut to normal sizes and fit great. There is not a lot of say about a golf polo but I love the fact that while they do offer bright colors in some of their lines, they have the professional clean cut look that I would associate with Carnoustie and the home of golf.
I would highly recommend checking out this company, I know between the office and the course I got more than a few “who makes that shirt?” questions. I would love to try some other apparel by Carnoustie because if their polo is any indication of the quality of their products, you can’t miss with Carnoustie.
