I’m currently playing a Taylor Made Tour Burner ’08 with a 9 degree loft. With my swing speed a stiff shaft is definitely ideal. I’m planning on upgrading my loft with my next driver to get a bit more height on my drives. As far as the club goes, it’s definitely a very solid driver. The technology is not as good as the clubs that are coming out now, but it was a nice upgrade over my Adams Tight Lies I had been playing. The ball seems to jump off the face, and I love the roll I get when the ball hits the fairway. I hit a fade with the club that I am able to control most days. I’m definitely planning on upgrading my driver within the next year.
I’ve always had a major issue hitting my woods so I decided that I would purchase a hybrid to see if it could help me out on the fairways of long par 5’s. I purchased an R7 4 hyrbrid used, and I’ve really been enjoying it. It gives me increased distance and height on shots I would normally have hit with my 4 iron. The club is very forgiving and I’d recommend it for anyone that struggles hitting their 3 or 5 woods. It won’t give you the same distance but it definitely gives you better control.
I started hitting King Cobra SZ irons about three years ago. As with my driver I am looking to upgrade these pretty soon. I get solid yardage out of them, and I’ve found that I get a higher trajectory on my irons with these, which really helps with approach shots. The set came with a Gap wedge which is my go to club in short yardage situation. I don’t carry a 52 or 54 degree wedge because of this club. It’s allowed me to shave quite a few strokes off of my short game.
I currently use an Acuity putter. I’ve had it for quite a while, and like my driver and my irons, I’m hoping to upgrade it soon. I like the weight on it but it has a very small face. The ball tends to bounce off the face at times.
I use standard grips on all my clubs. I have not changed these at all.
I’m not very picky on my balls. I’ll hit pretty much whatever I have. I will say I like playing Pro-V1’s when I have them though. I feel I get better distance on these and I feel like they also land softer on the green than any other ball I’ve hit.
