I have lived around the game of golf my entire life. My parents moved to Rochester when I was two years old and became members at the Rochester Golf and Country Club. The RGCC is a beautiful A.W. Tillinghast design built in 1916 located just miles outside of downtown Rochester. It is there that I first learned to swing the club in junior golf and weekend rounds with my dad and younger brother. During high school however, other sports and priorities took my attention away from the game. My passion for the game returned about 2 years ago after college when I returned to Rochester and had more opportunities to play the game I had put on the back burner for so long. These days my life revolves around the game. Nearly every day after work you will find me on the course whether I am playing few holes by myself, in a men’s league, or with friends. Weekends I will travel out of town and take advantage of the many golf courses in the southern Minnesota Area. Every year I make an annual trip to northern Minnesota to play the three golf courses owned by the Grandview lodge in a Ryder Cup tournament. There is nothing I look forward to more. The sport has transformed from a hobby I played for fun, to now both a mental and physical challenge to play my best. I look forward to playing this game I love for many more years to come and sharing my experiences with others passionate about the game.
“If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play at it, it’s recreation. If you work at it, it’s golf.” – Bob Hope
