Anyone who has read our blog knows that at Average Guy Golf we are big fans of the brand Sunice, from Polo’s to Jackets if you want to look good and be prepared on the course Sunice offers great looking high quality products. This years fall (my term for light jackets and pull overs, not theirs) collection keeps the quality associated with Sunice at an all time high. Normally we would review a collection as a whole but with the multiple layers and outerwear offered by Sunice we are going to break it up into some of our favorites in individual reviews. First up is the Webster short sleeve pull over rain/wind jacket by Sunice.
Sunice®, founded in 1976 in Alberta, Canada as a skiwear brand, successfully transcended its technical outerwear capabilities into the golf market in the early 1990s as the golf industry gravitated towards designing sport-specific garments that truly helped enhance the game. Thus, it’s no surprise Sunice® – owned and run by Montreal, Canada-based Fletcher Leisure Group Inc., a company with 42 years of golf industry experience – meets the demands of the most discerning golfer. Sunice® golf rainwear is a chosen favorite by many PGA and LPGA Tour players around the world.
About The Webster
The Webster is a short sleeve wind jacket that is also water proof and works great in the rain, it is breathable to keep you cool on warmer windy days but thick enough to keep you warm on chilly days. The Webster comes from small to triple X so no matter your size you can get the Webster in your size and enjoy it. Sunice makes a few other Short Sleeve Windshirts that come in more colors, but the Webster design comes in all white, black and Gray or a Navy Blue, I test the Navy Blue and love it. The jacket is neoprene with a stretch tricot lining making it stretch and flex with every swing but strong enough to block the wind. The jacket has what Sunice trademarked the WxTECH coating which makes it completely waterproof and has a full zippered chest pocket which helped me keeping my phone dry while still being able to listen to headphones on the practice range in a light rain. Bungee’s are on both side of the waist so you can tighten down the waste to make this jacket completely water proof.
My Opinion of the Webster
In my opinion, and I’ve tried every outerwear company out there because I love the style of a light jacket on the course, Sunice is by far the most comfortable and best performing. I played over the weekend in a very steady rain and when I took off the Webster post round for some drinks my shirt was completely dry. It was 75 degrees and raining constantly and I was cool but still dry, something very hard to find in an rain/wind shirt/jacket. Normally if you stay dry you are sweltering in the jacket, or if you are comfortable in the jacket you are soaking wet because it doesn’t work well in the rain department. This jacket is stylish, comfortable and completely rain proof, as I stated above I felt confident enough in the jacket to put my cell phone in the chest pocket to listen to music on the range while it was raining. This review is short and sweet but it’s all that really needs to be said, if you don’t own a piece of Sunice Outerwear, go get some now. I promise you will thank me later. Look for more reviews of Sunice apparel coming soon as we tested 3 different items. Check out all of Sunice’s Outwear HERE
