I picked up a box of Titleist Velocity golf balls, off a recommendation from a buddy that I play with a lot. He said he found a few of these and that they were incredibly long so I figured I would give them a try. The Velocity is Titleist’s new two piece ball that is designed for distance and it definitely delivers. I have been trying out softer balls lately to get more feel around the green, as I am already a longer hitter and don’t seem to face to many long iron shots after my drive; so I have been looking for a softer ball to hit with my scoring irons to stop it on the green more. The Velocity has a NaZ2 cover decreases the spin off the club face but also gives the ball a soft feel around the greens. The fastest solid core of any Titleist golf ball uses LSX core technology for the highest velocity core formulation, per Titleist website. Overall I feel this ball is great for people looking for extra distance off the tee but it also has exceptional feel around the greens, for a higher handicap players; once you are able to spin the ball and control is a little more you will want to go to a softer ball. The ball has a 332 dimple patter, promoting very consistent ball flight; the numbers on the ball are orange making this Titleist stand out from all the other balls they make on the market.
